Disadvantages
Upon creations, disadvantages are added to give the character a few points back to spend. Those gives the character some fun elements to RP with, since they usually gives the character a few problems to deal with. Later in the game, you’ll be able to spend a amount of XP to remove any of them, the amount varies and is included with all the disadvantages. Specific actions might be required to be able to remove the disadvantage. You cannot get up one morning and have lost a important disadvantages without doing anything for it. You may not have more than 5 disadvantages for your character.
Amnesia (+10, 40XP)
You
wake up one morning and you can’t remember anything about your past. Maybe you
won’t even remember your name. Slowly your character may discover them, and
with enough XP, the character may recover completely. Also you must RP in a way
to recover your past, your C trying to discover who he/she was, and once you
have done enough work there would be a little something that would have your
character remember his own past. Gives a unique Rping experience!
Can’t Swim (+5, 10XP)
In most cases, characters are able to swim when in water. They doesn't necessarily makes them Olympic Material but at they won't drown (immediately at least). Characters suffering from this disadvantage however sinks like a rock in deep water. To remove this disadvantage, you will have to find a mentor who will help your character to learn to swim, and then spend 5 XP points.
Elemental
Weakness (+10)
You character
suffer twice the normal amount of damage from attacks from a particular
Element. These Elements are : Fire, Water, Ice, Wind, Bolt, Earth, Poison,
Light, Darkness. Healing may also be chosen, and doing so will cut HP gained
back in half from Cure and Life spells. It is not possible to remove this
disavantage, but the effect may be cancelled by using Artifact that grants
immunity to the element.
Gullible (+5 or +10, 10XP for each step)
A character
suffering from this disadvantage will most likely believes in others lies.
Using the 5 points version, the character will not fall for lies that openly
defy common knowledge, but the 10 points version can cover just about anything.
If someone would tell him that the moon is made of cheese, they'll believe it!
To remove it, others may help them to determine what things are true or false,
then a character may be able to reduce it by one step. If the disadvantage was
bought at +10, two steps are required instead of one. They cannot remove the
disadvantage in one single step.
Honest (+5, 10XP)
Characters with
this disadvantage simply can't lie. If they try to do so, they become nervous
and others can easily know the character is lying. With hard training it can be
possible to remove this disadvantage.
Phobia (+5 or +10, 10XP for each step)
A character
with this disadvantage is afraid of something to the point of running away. For
the 5 points version, the character will suffer a -30% to all skills against
the object of their phobia, and have a flat 50% chance (which could be modified
depending on the difficulty) to runaway. Using the 10 points version, the
character instantly runaway, without any roll. Again, hard training with
someone else might remove this disadvantage. Like for gullible, those who have
the disadvantage must remove it in two steps.
Psychotic Aversion (+5)
The character
is totally enraged at the sight of a specific object/race/precise person. When
they encounter it, they automatically receives the Berserk status condition,
which can't be removed until the target is killed or out of sight. See the
Berserk status under Statuses page for more details about it. Can't be removed.
Smoking (+5, 5XP)
You character
have the bad habit to smoke cigs. In gameplay terms there are no penalties,
exept when your character is smoking during a fight, which gives him/her a -1
Initiative penalty. Some races have this as a racial complication, and must be
treated the same way. Occasional smokers does not have to take this
disadvantage, unless the character later starts to smoke more often. Removing
this disadvantage is possible, but characters who quits will always find it
hard at the beginning, and must be RPed well to see this disadvantage removed
completely.
Social Stigma (+5 or +15)
You are of a
race/class/nationality which is looked downward by most societies. At 5 points
the problem isn't too severe : others will try to scare them in some ways,
telling them they are inferior people and things like that, but they will never
get harmed for that. At 10 points, the character race/class/nationality is
either considered as slaves or evil being and are actively hunted down.
Impossible to remove.
Unwanted Love Interest (+5 or +15)
At 5 points,
Your charater have a person of the opposite sex (or maybe the same) which loves
you and can't understand the meaning of "no". But at 15 points, the
disadvantage is upgraded to "Babe Magnet", meaning that even when you
try not to, you tend to gain new admirers. By taking the 15 points version, you
must at least take the advantage beauty at any level. There is no way to get
rid of this disadvantage, unless your character gets defigured or something
similar, which would also cause the loss of the Beauty advantage.
Weak Alcohol Tolerance (+5)
Self-explaining.
Just by drinking a small glass of alcohol, you already feel drunk. Even if you
try hard enough, you seems not to gain any more resistance to alcoholic
beverages, and can't remove the disadvantage.
