Legends of Kaliedar

Skills

Here’s the list of all the skills available for Kaliedar. I know that some of them haven’t been explained, but I wanted to do this page as quickly as possible, I will try to make it more complete later, and if you want to help me by doing it, this would be nice.

Weapons Skills

Those will be done later, and will be required to perform the weapon’s special moves.

Artistic Skills

Acting : A character with this Skill has the training to fake emotions and devise new personalities for themselves, though it requires a rare combination of personal charisma and natural talent to sustain the illusion in a convincing manner.

Art : A general appreciation and knowledge of the arts -- painting, sketching, sculpture, architecture, and all techniques and practices associated with the like. A character with this Skill may create their own art, attempt to identify works of others, or even forge an existing piece to pass off as the original.

Dancing : A character with this skill is likely to be able to tell a Waltz from a Gavotte, and knows enough of the general etiquette and required steps to avoid stepping on peoples' toes in the process. In case of particularly long dances, multiple Skill Tests may be required.

Musical Instrument : This Skill allows a character to play, tune and maintain a particular instrument, as well as having a repetoire of songs at hand to play on it. Instrument is specific to certain type of instrument -- a Bard, for example, might have the Skill Instrument: Lute instead of a generic Instrument Skill. In case of particularly long songs, multiple Skill Tests may be required.

Singing : While not everyone is born with a good singing voice, careful training can more than make up the shortfall. Characters with this Skill know all about projection and range, and have a few melodies on  tap for almost any occasion. In case of particularly long songs, multiple Skill Tests may be required.

General Skills

Acrobatics : Ability to perform acrobatics moves, such as somersaults and cartwheels.

Climbing : Self-Explaining

Cooking : Self-Explaining

Riding : You must buy one for each form of transportation you wish, like a Chocobo, a Magitek Armor, a Airship or a Boat. More vehicules may be created, and such will require their very own riding skill.

Social Skills

Etiquette : This skill is required to have your character able to speak well in important situations, like for using the right words when talking in front of a King. This skill is also required when you want to speak to a Esper and ask him/her to put some magic in your weapon.

Intimidation : To have your target to use your persuasion to get what you want. But you must buy the Seduction skill if you want your character to be able to get, for example, a girl’s love.

Seduction : Self-Explaining.

Technical Skills

Alchemy : The knowledge of creating potions and others mixtures.

Explosives : The knowledge of making explosives and setting them.

Poaching : A talent essential to any monster hunter looking to make a profit on their activities, this Skill allows a character to identify and extract items of value from the carcass of a monster -- hide, horns, teeth, scales -- without damaging them in the process. One separate Skill Test must be made for each item of value; a failure will reduce both the quality and resale value of the time, whilst a Botch will destroy the item outright.

Survival : Self-Explaining

Tracking : Self-Explaining

Lores & Languages

Lore : A Lore covers a character's understanding of a particular concept or area, abstract or not -- facts, figures, and essential information relating to a subject the character has studied in at least some detail. All Lores share the same basic template; broad examples would include skills like Area Lore, Weapon Lore, Magic Lore or Herbal Lore, but almost any subject can be turned into a Lore depending on a character's background. The quality, quantity, and detail of a character's knowledge in a particular Lore will increase with the Skill Rating. Sample Lores:

Area Lore : Detailed knowledge of the geography of a particular area, inclusive of major landmarks, terrain, flora and fauna.

Folklore : An understanding of an area's popular mythology, ranging from ancient sagas to to contemporary 'urban legends'. Further specialised by country or region.

History : General knowledge of key events in an area's known history, including dates, personalities and other minutae. Further specialised by country or region.

Magic Lore : Magic Lore allows a character to locate and recognise sources of magic, as well as being able to identify individual Spells when encountered. Further specialised by type: Black, White, Time, Red or Blue.

Monster Lore : What is a Malboro's preferred food source? How many Sahagin comprise a typical raiding party? Just how fast does a Cactuar actually run? A character with Monster Lore is a treasure trove of facts and trivia on the planet's inhuman inhabitants. Further specialised by monster type : Animal, Bird, Construct, Devil, Dragon, Fish, Human, Insect, Plant or Undead.

Summon Lore : A primer on the habitats, histories, strengths, weaknesses and personalities of the major Summons of the world, from Alexander to Tritoch.

Language : With this specialised Lore, a character can speak a particular language -- at lower levels, fluently enough to communicate with others, at higher levels with the proficiency of a skilled orator and writer. The Lore's Skill Rating reflects the character's approximate experience with that particular language :

1%-25%: Beginner; at a child's level

26%-50%: Intermediate; at a student or young adult's level.

51%-100%: Proficient; capable of carrying on everyday conversations, reading normal literature, newspapers, and correspondence.            101%-200%: Master; usually skilled orator, professional writer or actor.

201%+: Scholar; can analyze all aspects of the language, is a reservoir of vocabulary.

This must be purchased for each language your character knows.
